The Long and Thick of It

True confession…I have used LATISSE®.  My eyelashes have gone through periods of sparsity.  After my second child was born, every thing seemed to be falling out.  And I mean everything, but we will save those details for the medical blogs.

I had big patches missing from my eyelash line and it made wearing mascara difficult and depressing. A friend recommended LATISSE® and after using it for a few weeks my lashes started growing back.  All was right with the world again!  They started to get too long, so I quit using it and didn’t think about it again.

Fast forward to a year ago and lo and behold, it happened again.  But this time, I couldn’t blame it on giving birth.  I went to see my dermatologist and she believed I was secretly pulling my lashes out due to stress.  Well, that is just crazy talk.  I think it has to do with hormones, but what do I know?

She gave me LATISSE®.  This time, I was more aware of how LATISSE® worked and the crazy side affects, so I was hesitant.  I have green eyes and I just knew that I would be the one whose eyes changed colors permanently.  Vanity got the best of me however,  and I used it for a few weeks until I started seeing them growing back in again.  Another bullet dodged!

Well, about 2 months ago, guess what?  That’s right, it started again.  I had a big bald patch on one eyelash line.  Lucky for me, I had read about Plume Science lash and brow enhancing serum. Plume lash and brow serum strengthens and conditions the hair follicles of the lashes and brows without the use of harmful chemicals and potential scary side effects.

Plume Science is the brainchild of another innovative, intelligent, female entrepreneur. Lauren Bilon needed a safe alternative to enhance and protect her eyelashes, so she partnered with a certified Master in Fragrance and Cosmetics scientist and Plume was born!

I started using it and I am happy to say that, once again, I have a full set of lashes.  But this time, I didn’t live in fear of waking up with different colored irises!

Plume serum is so much easier to use than LATISSE® because it comes with an applicator brush.  You brush it on the root of your lashes just like putting on liquid eyeliner. It is much easier to control and you can even apply it to your lower lashes.  It seems to work faster than LATISSE®, but I cannot actually confirm that as fact.

So how does it work?  It is made of natural, plant-derived ingredients like

Organic Aloe Vera and Organic Castor oil.  Both are very moisturizing, rich in vitamins and minerals to nourish the hair follicles, and have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Vitamin E.  A moisturizer and potent anti-oxidant.

Honey Extract. Honey has anti microbial properties and is a powerful humectant which allows the follicles to retain more moisture.

Watercress and Indian Cress.  Both have been shown to produce keratin which is vital for strength and growth of hair.

Another benefit I found to using Plume is that my lashes are growing in a normal pattern.  When I used LATISSE®, my eyelashes grew in at odd angles, some were kinky or grew straight down and did not curl with an eyelash curler.

I will be sticking with Plume Science Lash and Brow Serum and plan on keeping my eyes green!
