Well they definitely named this correctly because sublime is what came to mind when I first used this after receiving it in my first Esthoria Beauty Box (now Botanic and Terre). It was actually a photo of this product that made me subscribe to the beauty box. I mean, that color!
Okoko Cosmetiques is a new, indie Canadian skincare brand that was founded by Oyeta Kokoroko. If you ever see a photo of her, you will say, I want HER skincare routine! She is gorgeous and her skin looks, dare I say it…SUBLIME!
She and her partner live by the philosophy of using simple but effective skincare. The products are vegan, cruelty-free, certified by PETA and support fair trade.
So what is this beautiful pot of goodness? Okoko calls it a beauty balm and made it to be an all-purpose balm for the face and body. It can be used as a cleanser, moisturizer or mixed with your favorite clay mask to enhance the effects.
This balm is made with some pretty exotic oils and butters, like cocoa butter, mango butter and kokum butter, tomato, carrot tissue, seabuckthorn, jojoba, camellia seed and argan oils. It is loaded with some powerful antioxidants like natural resveratrol, lycopene and beta carotene to help protect the skin from free radicals and help cell regeneration. It contains phytosterols to calm and repair damaged skin, bisabolol (from chamomile) to sooth and hydrate the skin. It has turmeric and alma to help fight inflammation, reduce the look of dark circles and brighten the complexion. The addition of white kaolin clay cleans and purifies the skin without drying or irritation.
Once you get over the gorgeous color, you inhale the delicious aroma of the cocoa beans, vanilla and cocoa butter. If you have ever used any of May Lindstrom’s products, you know that smell. It is very similar to the Blue Cocoon, in scent and texture. I find the Sublime balm a little creamier.
I use this as a cleansing balm most of the time. It melts beautifully into the skin and removes my makeup. I add a little water to emulsify it a little bit, then rinse with warm water. It leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and well hydrated. When my skin is particularly dry, I rub a little on my face before I go to bed and then I have sweet, chocolate scented dreams. You can use it anywhere on your body that you need moisture, but the jar is not that big, so I haven’t shared it with any body parts south of my neck!
I have also added this to my Odacite Synergie Immediate Skin Perfecting Mask and that is an amazing experience. Another way that I have used it is I have added a little Verdura Bamboo Diva Face Polish (to create a bit of a scrub) if my face feels particularly dirty, like gardening days.
After writing this, I really just want to take a bath and slather this beautiful balm on my face because it really is…
